Our Story — Friends Ahoy

Why I'm
Building This

Not an expert. Not a researcher. Just a guy who felt lonely, did the research, and decided to do something about it.

You're not broken. You're not alone. Your crew is out there.

Like many others over the last few years, I've felt a compounding level of stress and anxiety caused by lack of community and a good amount of loneliness in my own life. I was starting to realize how rare and difficult it was to have valuable conversations and how little I felt I was a part of any community.

After talking to more people about it, I realized this was extremely common. Going out to restaurants, bars, or just meeting people in public, I was consistently coming face-to-face with individuals who said they didn't feel fulfilled or feel like they had purpose in today's culture.

In that research I found that there were not many resources that seemed valuable to the current state of things — resources that took into consideration just how overwhelming this current situation in our society feels.

Connection doesn't just happen anymore. It has to be built.

I'm not an expert on any of this. Just a guy who felt lonely, did the research, listened to people, and realized we needed something different. Friends Ahoy is that something.

I know first-hand just how difficult things can be right now. Talking to family and friends can feel extremely hard. Not being able to express yourself and have someone who truly sees you is painful. I've been there. And I want to let everyone know that's something we can overcome together.
